SUNDAY - Does knowledge insure salvation?
JOEL - The scriptures say that the glory of God is intelligence (D&C 93:36), so it is an important factor in our road to salvation, but it most deffinately does not ensure our salvation. It is our relationship with God, our obedience to His commandments, His love, grace, and mercy and who we have become in this life that ensures salvation.
SUNDAY - I believe that learning is endless, and i want to know if God is still learning?
JOEL - According to the scriptures, God is omniscient(all-knowing):
"But the Lord knoweth all things from the beginning; wherefore, he prepareth a way to accomplish all his works among the children of men; for behold, he hath all power unto the fulfilling of all his words. And thus it is. Amen." (1 Nephi 9:6)
"He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep."(John 21:17)
Because all truth comes from God and He created everything in this universe He can not still be learning.
Elder Neal Maxwell said:
"Joseph Smith also declared, "God is the only supreme governor and independent being in whom all fullness and perfection dwell; who is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient." (Lecture 2, paragraph 2.)
"God, who knows the beginning from the end, knows, therefore, all that is in between. He could not safely see us through our individual allotments of "all these things" that shall give us experience if He did not first know "all things." (Maxwell, "All These Things Shall Give Thee Experience")
The only thing God increases in is His glory as each of His children obtain eternal life.(Moses 1:5). Learning is indeed endless for the rest of us, at least until we become as God.
