SALA - Where in the scriptures(bible in particular) does it teach about the need to attend a "church building" in order to be saved? My friend(non.lds) believes Gods will is to worship him freely and not being restricted by a man made religion/church to worship god therefore attending a church building is unnecessary?

JOEL - "And having an high priest over the house of God;
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." (Hebrews 10:22-25)

"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." (Matt 18:20)

"And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;" (Eph 4:11)

"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." (Col 3: 15-16)

Your friend is somewhat right. A building is not absolutely necessary to worship God, but it sure makes it easier to do so. I have been to outdoor LDS services myself a few times. However, I think it is obvious that these scriptures are at least calling for people to worship together in organized congregations, which to me would require a building of some kind to assemble the people together in, if nothing more than to have a bathroom they can use when needed.
