ODEH - Is hell going to last forever? or will the devil be given a chance to repent and take his place as one of the sons of God?

JOEL - For most people, a certain kind of hell; the place we call spirit prison, will not last forever. It will end at the resurrection and when most all those who have lived on the earth are judged and assigned a kingdom of glory. But Satan, who in the beginning was a spirit son of God, and the other sons of perdition will never have that opportunity. Their fate was sealed when they followed satan in the pre-earth life and were cast out; never to receive a body, and for those who have committed the unpardonable sin.

In the D&C we read:
"They are they who are the sons of perdition, of whom I say that it had been better for them never to have been born;
For they are vessels of wrath, doomed to suffer the wrath of God, with the devil and his angels in eternity; Concerning whom I have said there is no forgiveness in this world nor in the world to come-
Having denied the Holy Spirit after having received it, and having denied the Only Begotten Son of the Father, having crucified him unto themselves and put him to an open shame.
These are they who shall go away into the lake of fire and brimstone, with the devil and his angels- (Vision to Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon, Feb. 16, 1832) (D&C 76:31-36)

Elder Joseph Fielding Smith said:
As all things have their opposites, there is a punishment which is the opposite to eternal life, which punishment is the "heaviest of all cursings." [See D&C 41:1.] This is the second or spiritual death, which is banishment from the presence of God and from his light and truth forever. (Doctrines of Salvation, 2:218)

Elder Bruce R. McConkie said:
"for those who are heirs of some salvation, which includes all except the sons of perdition (D&C 76:44), hell has an end, but for those who have wholly given themselves over for satanic purposes there is no redemption from the consuming fires and torment of conscience. They go on forever in the hell that is prepared for them." (Doctrinal New Testament Commentary, 3:578-79)

So the evidence would lead us to believe that satan will never see the light of God's glory and that for him and his followers hell will indeed last forever.
