MIYO - Is it true that you cannot be save by your religion but you can be saved by your own faith?.

JOEL - Religion by itself can't save us but it is a tool we mortals use to help us become the kind of person that can exist in an exalted and saved condition in God's Kingdom. The LDS religion also provides God authorized priesthood ordinances that we are told are necessary in the salvation process. But even those by themselves cannot save us. Ultimately we are saved by our obedience and faith in Jesus Christ, and through His grace and atoning sacrifice.

From the Book of Mormon:
"And now, my beloved brethren, after ye have gotten into this strait and narrow path, I would ask if all is done? Behold, I say unto you, Nay; for ye have not come thus far save it were by the word of Christ with unshaken faith in him, relying wholly upon the merits of him who is mighty to save.
Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.
"This is the way; and there is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God. And now, behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." (2 Ne. 31:19-21.)

"And now, my son, I have told you this that ye may learn wisdom, that ye may learn of me that there is no other way or means whereby man can be saved, only in and through Christ. Behold, he is the life and the light of the world. Behold, he is the word of truth and righteousness." (Alma 38: 9)

" For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do." (2 Nep 25: 23)
