KIRK - is there any scriptural references that God or Jesus Christ commissioned His prophets or apostles to write about His life and ministry here on earth?

JOEL - God has in the past told prophets to write down things He has told them (Ex 34:27, Isa 8:1, Rev. 1:11, Rev. 21:5). And in the Book of Mormon God (Jesus) made a rather general statement that could include what the Apostles wrote about Him:

"For I command all men, both in the east and in the west, and in the north, and in the south, and in the islands of the sea, that they shall write the words which I speak unto them; for out of the books which shall be written I will judge the world, every man according to their works, according to that which is written." (2 Nep 29:11, See also D&C 68:1,4 and 3 Nephi 23: 6-14)

And in 2 Tim the Apostle Paul tells us: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" (2 Tim 3:16)

If all scripture is given by inspiration of God and He commands all men to write the words He speaks to them, you could say the Apostles and Prophets were indeed commissioned by God to write about the ministry of Jesus here on earth.
