GREG - i know we are told jesus was the first born in the spirit and he and satan were brothers. i had someone question that, and now i'm stumped? my question is that christ made all things and the worlds, under the direction of his father. christ is eternal, but the scriptures say they created the host of heaven. was satan born before this creation? i find that christ is the first born in the ressurection, but can not seem to find a scripture that says he was the firstborn spirit child in the bible. can you give me your insight?

JOEL - There are a couple of LDS scriptures that refer to it.

"And now, verily I say unto you, I was in the beginning with the Father, and am the Firstborn;" (D&C 93: 21-22)

"And I, God, said unto mine Only Begotten, which was with me from the beginning: Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and it was so. " (Moses 2:26)

There really aren't any Bible scriptures that specifically say that Jesus was the firstborn in the spirit but there are a few that hint at it:

"Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth." (Psalms 89:27)

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God." (John 1:1-2)

If Jesus was "in the beginning" with God He must have been first ahead of all of us.

"For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren." (Romans 8:29)

"Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:" (Colossians 1:15)

Other than these we have to rely on latter-day revelation from our prophets who have taught that Jesus is the firstborn spirit based on revelation and their own inspired interpretations of these scriptures (especially D&C 93: 21-22).

When you say that the scriptures say "they created the host of heaven", you would need to provide a reference for me so I can see it in its context. All spirits, including Jesus and Satan, were created by our Heavenly Father before the creation of the world (Moses 3: 5, 7). When the scriptures say that God created the heavens and the earth (Gen 1:1, D&C 14:9,) and the hosts that live on the earth (D&C 76:20-24), it means that Jesus created the bodies(not spirits) of man, animals, and the stars, and other worlds in the universe under the direction of Heavenly Father. Occaisionally the term "host of heaven" refers to the stars, planets, etc. in space (2 Kings 23:5, Deut 17:3). You need to read the context to know which "heaven" it is refering to.
