GRANDPA - Wondering if it is possible for anyone to be sealed to Father in Heaven?

JOEL - Of course, we already belong to Father in Heaven in the eternal sense since we are His spirit children, which will never change.

In Mosiah 5: 15 it says:
"Therefore, I would that ye should be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in good works, that Christ, the Lord God Omnipotent, may seal you his, that you may be brought to heaven, that ye may have everlasting salvation and eternal life, through the wisdom, and power, and justice, and mercy of him who created all things, in heaven and in earth, who is God above all. Amen."

President Joseph Fielding Smith said about this scripture:
"To be "brought to heaven" is to receive the peaceful assurance that we will obtain eternal life. We are sealed to Christ when we have received the ratifying sanction of the Holy Spirit of Promise. That is, the Holy Ghost, by placing his stamp of approval upon all the ordinances of salvation into which we have entered, thus assures us that they will be of efficacy, virtue, and force in and after the resurrection (see D&C 132:7).
(Doctrinal Commentary on the Book of Mormon, vol. 2)

So essentially, when we perform the temple ordinance of sealing to family members, and that sealing is ratified by the Holy Spirit of promise, we are not only sealed to our earthly family members, but also to the patriarchal family of God in heaven, which includes Christ and Heavenly Father. Other than this there would not need to be any formal ordinance that specifically seals us to Heavenly Father.
