CARAMIA - If Jesus was perfect in this life, why didnt he himself multiply & replenish the Earth as commanded to Adam & Eve?
JOEL - He probably did. In the book of Isaiah we read:
"And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots;" (Isa 11:1)
From many Bible scholars and LDS scripture it is quite clear that the "stem" of Jesse is Jesus Christ. In the Doctrine and Covenants we read:
"Who is the Stem of Jesse spoken of in the 1st, 2d, 3d, 4th, and 5th verses of the 11th chapter of Isaiah?
Verily thus saith the Lord: It is Christ." (D&C 113:1-2).
It then goes on to describe the attributes of the person or persons who represent the "rod" and the "root" who comes from the stem, without giving any names (D&C 113:3-6). Many LDS scholars have interpreted this description as one that applies to Joseph Smith. Whoever this scripture is talking about the reference to "a rod out of the stem" in the context of D&C 113 still implies that someone descended from Christ, which means Jesus would have to have had children.
Many LDS and non-LDS Bible scholars agree that Jesus probably was married. Early LDS leaders such as Orson Pratt, Orson Hyde, Brigham Young, and Joseph Fielding Smith believed that, Jesus, who descended from Abraham down & who fulfilled all the law even baptism by immersion, would not have lived and died without being married. In those days it would have been a serious infraction against the laws and customs of the culture for any Jewish man to not be married by the age of 20. By the time He started His ministry Jesus was in His 30's and therefore had plenty of time to marry and father some children before that. The Bible of course is silent on this subject; which in itself is a good reason to believe He was married. For nowhere in the Bible was He accused by His enemies of ignoring this important Jewish law and tradition.
Luke 2:52 says:
"And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man."
To increase in favor with man would mean that he would have followed the customs of the culture as he grew up, which would include being married and fathering children. A grown man marrried with children was the expected norm in Jewish custom and would therefore not even merit mention in the scriptures, which were more focused on the teachings of Jesus. Just because the Bible doesn't specifically state that he was married and had children doesn't mean it didn't happen.
The Bible also doesn't mention any of the marriages of the 12 Apostles either, yet we can be certain that at least most of them also followed Jewish tradition and were married and probably had children. Obviously there are many things that Jesus did during his 33 years of life that were not mentioned in the Bible. Most of what the Bible says about Jesus was only during His three year ministry before he died; with nothing being mentioned from age 12 to 30.
