ALEX - What is the Church's stand on Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP)?

JOEL - The Church has not released a statement on this practice. From what I understand NLP has been identified by most of the scientific community as a pseudo-science and although some may claim it helps some people, it is not a very reliable nor reproducible practice. Some principles of NLP are used by doctors and mental health professionals, but the field is generally considered outside of mainstream medical practice and academic thinking. It can involve some forms of hypnotherapy for which the church has commented about:

"The use of hypnosis under competent, professional medical supervision for the treatment of diseases or mental disorders is a medical question to be determined by competent medical authorities." (Church Handbook #1)
