TONY - What do LDS folks believe "Jesus" really looks like?

JOEL - Do you mean what does He look like now or when he was on the earth 2000 years ago? Here are a few scriptures that describes what he looks like now if he were to appear to someone. According to Joseph Smith:

1 THE veil was taken from our minds, and the eyes of our understanding were opened.
2 We saw the Lord standing upon the breastwork of the pulpit, before us; and under his feet was a paved work of pure gold, in color like amber.
3 His eyes were as a flame of fire; the hair of his head was white like the pure snow; his countenance shone above the brightness of the sun; and his voice was as the sound of the rushing of great waters, even the voice of Jehovah, saying:
4 I am the first and the last; I am he who liveth, I am he who was slain; I am your advocate with the Father." (Doctrine and Covenants 110: 1-4)

We don't have much of an idea what he looked like 2000 years ago, although we assume His physical appearance would have reflected that of both His mortal mother, Mary, as well as His immortal Father. Apostle Bruce R. McConkie explained:

"Our Lord's physical body, conceived in Mary's womb, partook of Mary's nature; mortal genes, if you will, passed from mother to Son. His features, stature, and general appearance were passed on as much by his mortal mother as by his immortal Father. He was as much the product of the mother who bare him as were her other children. (Mortal Messiah: From Bethlehem to Calvary, vol. 1 Bruce R. McConkie p 367)

Paintings of Him that hang on our church walls are purly an expression of a particular artist's opinion of what most Jewish men might have looked like at that time. We do know that He now has a glorified resurrected body of flesh and bone separate from God the Father, and is therefore in the form of a man (Luke 24:36-39, D&C 130:22 ) and, besides what Joseph Smith said above, probably looks somewhat like He did during His ministry on earth and like His spirit before He came to earth (Ether 3:15-16) .
