JOEL - The "glory" of God refers to His power and attributes and all the things that bring Him glory or makes Him the glorious supreme being that He is.
In the Doctrine and Covenants we read:

"The glory of God is intelligence, or, in other words, light and truth." (D&C 93:36)

His inteligence and the truth that emminates from Him is one aspect of His glory, but it also includes a long list of other things; His love, His knowledge, His omnipotence, patience, mercy, forgiveness, etc. His perfect understanding and example of all these things are what makes him glorious.

There are also things that bring more glory to Him. High on that list are His children who kept their first estate; came down to earth; proved themselves worthy; will achieve a Celestial glory in heaven and go on to become gods themselves. God said in the scriptures:

"For behold, this is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man." (Moses 1:39)

The more of His children that achieve immortality and eternal life, the more glory is added upon Him. When we bring more glory to God we bring glory upon ourselves as well:

"And we will prove them herewith, to see if they will do all things whatsoever the Lord their God shall command them; And they who keep their first estate shall be added upon; and they who keep not their first estate shall not have glory in the same kingdom with those who keep their first estate; and they who keep their second estate shall have glory added upon their heads for ever and ever." (Abraham 3:25-26)

Everything that we do in this life should be done with an eye single to His glory.

"And if your eye be single to my glory, your whole bodies shall be filled with light, and there shall be no darkness in you; and that body which is filled with light comprehendeth all things." (D&C 88: 67)

In the King Follett discourse Joseph Smith was refering to the concept of the eternal progression of both man and God. He said:

"My Father worked out His kingdom with fear and trembling, and I must do the same; and when I get my kingdom, I shall present it to My Father, so that He may obtain kingdom upon kingdom, and it will exalt Him in glory. He will then take a higher exaltation, and I will take His place, and thereby become exalted myself. So that Jesus treads in the tracks of His Father, and inherits what God did before; and God is thus glorified and exalted in the salvation and exaltation of all His children." (King Follett discourse)

God is all-knowing and all-powerful and does not progress in these attributes. But as we obey God and progress into the eternities this will cause God to progress in glory and thereby achieve a higher exaltation, which in turn causes us to advance in glory as well.
This is what the scriptures and the prophets have taught us, but I honestly can't comprehend what it all means.
