JOEL -
Behives - This term is used to symbolize industry and dedication. Called "Deserret" in the Book of Mormon (Ether 2:3), it was a symbol used to describe the Church in the early days in Utah. "The hive and honey bees form our communal coat of arms…. It is a significant representation of the industry, harmony, order and frugality of the people, and of the sweet results of their toil, union and intelligent cooperation." (The Deseret News, Oct. 11, 1881)
Mia Maids - The word "Mia" comes from the initials of the Church youth organization called "Mutual Improvement Association". Maids is of course just another name for a young unmarried virgin woman.
Laurels - A "laurel" represents the good things we do in life or our accomplishments. By the time a young woman has reached this age group (17-18 years) she has accomplished many things that prepare her for marriage and receiving the ordinances of the temple
