JOEL - In the Pre-earth life the only choice we made that we know about was to follow the plan of God. After that we don't know much about any other choices in regards to what families we come to or when we come. There is scriptural evidence that in our pre-earth life as spirit children of God certain individual were selected to come forth in mortality at specified times, under certain conditions, and to fulfill predesignated responsibilities. (Jer. 1:5, Abr 3: 22-23)
In Acts we read:
"And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to
dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath
determined the times before appointed, and the bounds
of their habitation;" (Acts 17:26)
So according to Paul many spirits may have been
foreordained to specific nations and generations
("bounds of habitation"), as well as to families and
to varied assignments, work, or missions on earth.
But as far as we know these foreordinations were made
by God according to His judgment with little if any
input from ourselves. Saturday's Warrior is fiction
and while it elicits a certain sense of feel-good
romance, there is not much in the way of scriptural
support for some of its content.
