JOEL - There are bassically two different ways that people can find peace in there lives:
1. The temporary temporal way that brings peace to the body and mind of an individual.
2. The spiritual way that brings peace to the entire soul and that lasts for eternity.

The first way to peace we can obtain by engaging in simple activities, such as listening to music, sitting in quiet solitude on a beach, reading a good book, watching a baby sleep, or anything that takes our mind and body away from the worries and hustle and bustle of our busy lives.
While the first kind of peace is important for everyone to experience on a regular basis it is not as complete nor as far reaching as the spiritual peace that can come into our souls by the power of the Holy Ghost.
The Holy Ghost can inspire us to do what is right and make correct and confident choices. Knowing that we have made the right choice and that it was confirmed by the Holy Ghost brings a longlasting peace and joy to our souls. It is one of the "fruits of the Spirit".

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith," (Galatians 5:22)

It is the office of the Holy Ghost to lift burdens, give courage, strengthen faith, grant consolation, extend hope, and reveal whatever is needed to those having claim on his companionship (Moses 6:61). When we allow him to do this we can enjoy the peaceful fruits of his actions.
A distinctive characteristic of the truths of salvation is that they are attended by a spirit of comfort and peace. When we live the commandments and Gospel of Christ we are entitled to continuous access to the Holy Ghost and, through this, to an inner peace that "passeth all understanding".

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7)

The Holy Ghost also brings peace as His role in the forgiveness of our sins and in the growth of our faith as Mosiah records,

"And it came to pass that after they had spoken these words the Spirit of the Lord came upon them, and they were filled with joy, having received a remission of their sins, and having peace of conscience, because of the exceeding faith which they had in Jesus Christ who should come, according to the words which king Benjamin had spoken unto them." (Mosiah 4:3)
