JOEL - We do. The definition of "blind faith" means unquestioning faith. It means you follow God no matter what He asks you to do. We perform temple ceremonies because we believe that is what God has told us to do. Therefore we do it without question. And it still requires faith on our part, that what we are doing in the temple will make it possible to be together forever.
Most other Christian denominations as well as Mormons believe that baptism is important as explained in Mark:
"He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." (Mark 16:16)
and in Acts:
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:38)
Is blind faith and Christ's mercy enough to save us without baptism? Not according to these scriptures. We believe God has told us(LDS) that our temple ordinances are required for eternal marriage in the same way the ordinance of baptism is required for salvation and remission of sins.
It is also important however to receive a personal witness through the Holy Ghost that what God tells us to do is right. Without that witness we might be less committed and not as happy while we are doing it. This is what the apostle Paul meant when he said:
"For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance;" (1 Thess. 1:5)
In other words, we don't just believe in something because someone tells us. It is important to receive assurance from the Holy Ghost that it is the right thing to believe in. We can receive this assurance by asking God through prayer (James 1:5)
