1849 - Following the discovery of gold in California, Latter-day Saints send gold dust to Salt Lake City as tithing

1876 - Sidney Rigdon died on July 14, 1876. It was the opinion of some of the early brethren that Sidney Rigdon's mind was impaired by the suffering and persecution that he passed through, which accounted in large part for his indifference and opposition in his declining years.

1961 - The Berlin Mission is organized

1969 - President N. Eldon Tanner dedicates the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City.

1972 - The Quebec Mission is organized

1992 - The first branch in Zambia is organized

2008 - The Church released a statement that missionary assignments to Russia will be limited to those not needing visas
