1844 - Joseph Smith prophesies that within 5 years the Saints will be beyond the reach and power of their old enimies.

1883 - The first branch of the Church among the Maoris of New Zealand is organized.

1950 - The first missionaries in nearly 100 years arrive in Hong Kong to begin missionary work again.

1979 - The Paraguay Mission was created in 1977, and the first stake was organized in Asunción on February 25, 1979, with Carlos R. Espinola as president.

1982 - The first branch of the Church on the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius is established.

1990 - The Church receives official recognition in Kenya.

1999 - Plans are announced to build a temple in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas, Mexico.

2020 - LDS Business College would be renamed Ensign College.

2022 - The First Presidency released a statement pleading for peace following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, beginning an armed conflict that resulted in refugees fleeing Ukraine.
