HAGEN - I was reading you're question page about the Bible and you were talking about Ezekiel 37:15-22. There were some things that need to be addressed in your explanation. I don't want to come off as an anti-Mormon, but I'm really seeking for the truth and I would like some answers.
First off, isn't it true the Hebrew word used for stick there literally meant "wood" and the Book of Mormon came from brass plates? Also, It seems to me that the sticks were literal sticks that represented the two nations. Sticks can easily be written on. And you asked how a "nation" could be written on, and thirdly you quoted verse 22 and said,
"22 And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:" (and who will this King be, other than Jesus Christ?)"
but the King identified in verse 24 as David. I would appreciate a response if you can answer my questions.

JOEL - I think we need to realize that Ezekiel is speaking in a very figurative sense here which makes it possible to interpret these verses at several levels of meaning.
Many Bible scholars assume that the "sticks" mentioned in Ezekiel are talking about septers representing the two nations. It is interesting to note however that the Hebrew word 'ets meaning "wood", can refer to different things rather than just "sticks" or septers. It could be refering to a writing board, made out of wood, which was comonly used in Ezekiel's time for record keeping (D. J. Wiseman, “Assyrian Writing-Boards,” Iraq 17 (1955), p. 7).
Verse 17 of Ezekiel 37 tells us that, having written on his sticks(boards), Ezekiel joined “them one to another into one stick [board]” and they became one in his hand. This joining action was typical of scribes who wrote on such boards at that time. The delicate inner surfaces had to be protected from marring or scarring. By joining two boards together by thongs or metal hinges, a scribe could fold them together and the two boards literally became one in his hand.
Whatever the Hebrew word literally means doesn't really matter. The point is that something is being written upon(be it wood or metal) that separately contains records of Judah(Bible) and Joseph(Book of Mormon). And the bringing together of these two "sticks" represents the uniting together of all children of Israel belonging to both nations. The prophets of the Book of Mormon were descendants of Joseph. (1 Ne. 5: 14)
In verse 24 David is being used to represent Jesus Christ because it is from him that Jesus is descended.

"The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David," (Matt 1:1)
